Those who have helped to compile the list of Saints, litanies and recorded rosaries are not historians, although we have contributions from some who are. So in that sense it has not always been easy wading through books, articles and websites to discern the truth as best we could. The Saints are particularly difficult as many were canonised in a time that is now distant to us and were often very localised. Many of the Saints we now celebrate were only reinstated in 1898 by Pope Leo XIII as part of the Scottish Church's continued rehabilitation. Many of our most celebrated Saints were Irish, such as St Columba and therefore benefited from the Irish Church's record keeping.
